Jonathan Goodman, CFA, P.Eng., MBA, President and CEO

Jonathan Goodman is President and CEO of Dundee Goodman Merchant Partners (DGMP), a private equity-focused investment platform. Mr. Goodman is also Chairman and CEO of Dundee Corporation, a diversified holding company with a focus on resource investing.

Mr. Goodman has 34+ years of experience in the resource and investment industry, working as a geologist, senior analyst, portfolio manager, and CEO of a producing mining company.

Mr. Goodman joined Goodman & Company, Investment Counsel Inc. in 1990, where he was responsible for the selection of Canadian equities and played a major role in developing asset allocation strategies, before becoming the company’s President. Mr. Goodman served as CEO of Dundee Precious Metals (DPM-T) from 1995 to 2013, and as Executive Chairman from April 2013 to September 2017, at which time he was appointed Chairman. Concurrently, he also was President and CEO of Dundee Capital Markets from 2013 to 2014. Mr. Goodman also serves as a Director for Atico Mining (ATCMV), which recently acquired Toachi Mining Inc. (TIM-V), of which Mr. Goodman was Chairman and a major shareholder. This acquisition created a new Latin American copper-gold company, anchored by the producing El Roble Mine in Colombia and the high grade La Plata (Toachi) project in Ecuador. Mr. Goodman was also a founding partner of Goepel Shields & Partners and Metaform Investments.

Mr. Goodman graduated from the Colorado School of Mines as a Geological Engineer and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto. He is a Professional Engineer in Ontario and is a Chartered Financial Analyst®.


Bob Sellars, CFA, CPA, CA, MBA
Chief Financial Officer

Robert Sellars has served over 37 years in the investment and financial services industry. Mr. Sellars is also Chief Financial Officer of Dundee Corporation and has been Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for various financial services entities including Dundee Securities Ltd and Goodman & Company Investment Counsel. He has been at the Dundee Group of companies for over 19 years and has diverse experience in investments and capital markets.

Prior to joining Dundee, Mr. Sellars was Chief Financial Officer at First Marathon Inc. He was also the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mutual Fund Dealers Association and former Chairman of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada’s Financial Operation and Administration Section Committee. He is currently on the University of Windsor Business School Advisory Board.

Mr. Sellars holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Windsor and is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Chartered Accountant, as well as, a Chartered Financial Analyst.


Robert Dixon, MBA, Managing Director

Robert Dixon joins DGMP bringing 18 years of international capital markets experience. Robert’s extensive global relationships will help DGMP maintain relationships with like-minded investors globally as we seek financial partners in the investments we make.

Most recently, Robert was a Partner, Institutional Sales at Clarus Securities where he contributed to the building of the mining team between 2010-2018. Prior to joining Clarus in 2010, Robert was VP Institutional Sales at Dundee Securities from 2004-2010. Robert started his capital markers career living in London UK (1999-2004) where he maintains extensive relationships within the mining investment community. While in London Robert held roles as VP of Institutional Sales at Bryan Garnier & Co. UK, 2002-2004; CRM Manager at Standard & Poors, 2000-2002 UK. Robert earned a BA from the University of Victoria - 1999. He also earned the Kellogg-Schulich MBA in 2009.


Adrian Goldstone, M. Sc Environment & Hydrogeology, Managing Director – Technical

Adrian Goldstone brings expertise in all aspects of environmental management and project management. He has a strong reputation for creative business solutions. His skills are key to the investment process.

As Executive Vice President at Dundee Precious Metals from 2006 to 2014, his accountabilities included Sustainable Business Development, Environmental Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Executive Project Management. Projects he oversaw included a project in Krumovgrad, Bulgaria, and the smelter emissions upgrade as well as the smelter acid plant in Tsumeb, Namibia.

Prior to this, Adrian was Partner and Managing Director Kingett Mitchell Ltd. for a decade. Kingett Mitchell was a diversified resource and environmental engineering consultancy based in New Zealand. Adrian built a successful international minerals industry consultancy and grew the business to 5 times its size during his tenure. Golder Associates acquired Kingett Mitchell in 2006. Additionally, Adrian spent 10 years in various roles with Cyprus Minerals and Cyprus Amax in their corporate and international groups.


Dr. Julian Barnes, PhD Geology, Managing Director - Technical

Julian Barnes has extensive experience in major exploration and development projects, technical computing applications, due diligence, independent expert reports, structural analysis, exploration and mining geology, technical audits, valuations, resource evaluations, ore reserve modelling, pit optimization and feasibility study management.

For the past several years he has been an Independent Consultant offering his clients over all due diligence, reviews of projects and companies for resource financing entities. His clients have included listed and unlisted resource and mining companies. Julian held the title of Executive Vice President Dundee Precious Metals where he led exploration, project acquisition, and due diligence.

He founded and led Resource Service Group for nearly two decades, which ultimately became RSG Global and has since been sold to Coffey Mining. RSG Global provided technical services to the minerals industry from exploration and target definition through to mine closure. The company grew to more than 250 staff with offices in Australia, South America, Europe and Africa. Julian began his career as a Project Geologist, and Senior Geologist with Electrolytic Zinc Co. of Australasia, where he discovered Bottle Creek Gold Mine in Western Australia.


Rick Cohen, P.Eng., MBA, Managing Director

Rick has worked in the investment industry since 1983. The first 15 years as a mining analyst and subsequently as an investment banker. His strength has been to identify and analyze significant mining projects at early stages. Over the past 36 years, he has travelled to more than 50 countries to review hundreds of deposits, early stage, development and producing mines. He has also been involved in the inception of dozens of M&A transactions. His focus has been on precious metal, copper and diamond deposits.

Rick began his official mining career in 1979 as a mill metallurgist at the Island Copper Mine, located in BC. After returning to university to complete a business degree, in 1983 he worked as a mining analyst with Prudential Bache Securities. In 1986, he continued as a mining analyst with BBN James Capel Inc., then in 1991 continued as an analyst with Goepel Shields and Partners. He transitioned into investment banking with Goepel in 1998.

Late in 1998, Rick joined Dundee Securities Corporation as a Managing Director of Investment Banking. In 2010, he joined Primary Capital, an exempt market dealer, where the focus was on financing and M&A advisory work. And in 2018, Rick rejoined Dundee where the focus has moved into merchant banking.

Rick’s past board positions included two companies of note, Peregrine Metals, which was acquired by Stillwater and Peregrine Diamonds, which was acquired by DeBeers.


Rob Klassen, P.Geo, MBA, Managing Director

Robert Klassen has over 33 years of experience in the resource and investment industry, working as a geologist, analyst, and investment banker.

Mr. Klassen joined DGMP from Primary Capital as a Managing Director, having worked there from 2012 to 2018. Previously Rob served as the Managing Director of Investment Banking at Dundee Securities Corporation from 2001 to 2010. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Mining Research with Goepel Shields from 1996 to 2001. Mr. Klassen worked as an exploration geologist from 1997 to 1996 with Lacana Mining, Corona Corporation and Hunter Dickinson Inc.

Mr. Klassen earned a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from the University of Saskatchewan and MBA from the University of Western Ontario. He is also a Member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.


Olav Langelaar, P.Eng., MBA, Managing Director

Olav Langelaar joins DGMP from Primary Capital Inc. as Managing Director, having worked there from 2011 until 2018. Previously he served as Director Investment Banking from 2007 to 2011 for Goodman & Company, Investment Counsel Inc. His previous industry experience includes roles with Ospraie Gold and Amerigo Resources (VP Corporate Development), Placer Dome (Manager of Corporate Finance and Insurance), Cameco, Cominco (now Teck), and Agrium (now Nutrien, as Engineer, Maintenance and Construction).

Olav has over 20 years in the Canadian capital markets with specific expertise in mining operations and investment banking. He earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business. He is also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.


Matthew Goodman, CFA, Senior Associate

Matthew Goodman joins DGMP from Dundee Corporation as a Senior Associate. Matthew joined Dundee Corporation in 2013 as a member of Goodman & Company, Investment Counsel, where he was responsible for evaluating strategic resource investment opportunities for Dundee Corporation and the Goodman Gold Trust. Matthew was a founding member of Dundee Private Equity and part of the team that launched the first Canadian Special Purpose Acquisition Company raising over C$100 million in its IPO. In September 2018, Matthew rejoined Goodman & Company, Investment Counsel as an associate, and subsequently as a co-portfolio manager of the CMP and DGRC funds. Throughout Matthew’s tenure at Dundee, he has been a part of the corporate development team, overseeing Dundee’s significant on-balance sheet assets.

Matthew’s prior background includes in-field mineral exploration and equity capital markets experience. Matthew holds an Honours Bachelor of Social Science degree, specializing in Global Economics and Microeconomic Analysis from York University.


Naman Shah, Analyst

Naman Shah joins DGMP as an Analyst, having earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. In 2018, Naman and his team finished in 1st place at the 7th Annual World Mining Competition in Saskatoon. He has previously completed co-op experiences with Shell Canada’s Business Opportunity team and Canadian Natural Resources Limited’s Mine Technology team (2016-2018). Naman brings a passion for project valuation, financial analysis and risk management to the team.
